As part of the “Valorisation and promotion of authentic Italian agri-food products” project, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Houston took part in a “Food and Wine Week” initiative that was held on the 10th and 11th of June 2016. On the first day, the chamber and the “Extraordinary Italian Taste” initiative were the sponsors of a tasting session of authentic Italian products, which saw the participation of wine experts from the medium-high-end consumer bracket. This was followed by a dedicated training seminar on the characteristics of DOC, PDO and IGT and the unique qualities of ‘Made in Italy’ products. The event saw the participation of Chef, Antonella Ricco, Jenny Donatiello, one of the most important Italian wine importers in Texas, and Jeremy Parzen, a famous wine blogger, qualified sommelier and Italian wine expert. On the second day, as part of the “Grand testing” event, the chamber organised a corner dedicated to the “The Extraordinary Italian taste” campaign. The Houston chamber took part with 11 promotional tables showcasing Italian products, including wine, prosecco, cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
