The round table, moderated by the journalist Andrea Fiano, the correspondent in New York for the Milano Finanza and Global Finance magazines, and also the Vice Delegate of the NY Soho Academy of Italian Cuisine, was held in the Consulate General of Italy in New York. Among the participants were representatives from academia and the trade and catering sectors. The works were introduced by the Vice Consul of Italy and the General Secretary of the New York CCIE [Italian Chamber of Commerce Abroad], who illustrated the objectives of “The Extraordinary Italian Taste” project. The introduction was followed by the speakers, who agreed on the importance of the role played by USA food outlets in the promotion of authentic Italian products. They also agreed that using these products for recipes that are not part of Italian culinary tradition should not necessarily be considered a bad thing. The round table ended with a Q&A session with the public - there were about 70 participants, including workers in the industry (food outlet representatives, importers and distributors of Italian wines and foods), (digital) media representatives and lovers of food and wine.
All guests were given a press kit with information material on PDO/PGI products.
